Baroque flute after Charles Schuchart (c1750)

A typical flute of the mid-18th century, the original is in the Bate Collection at Oxford University. Its wide bore gives the instrument a full, open tone, and the pitch of the original is close to A’=415Hz. It is made of Boxwood, acid stained to a rich chestnut brown, and has a silver key and ivory mounts.

It is available at A’=415Hz, 430Hz or 440Hz, and extra pairs of middle joints can be provided to alter the pitch. This is an extremely popular flute.
