One-keyed piccolo.

Good original early orchestral piccolos are very rare. This is a copy of an excellent, though anonymous, boxwood piccolo in a private collection. It probably originates from Germany at the end of the C18, of four-piece construction like the baroque flute. The original is pitched close to modern pitch.

Copies are available at various pitches down to a’=415Hz, made from boxwood with imitation ivory mounts, with a brass key. The boxwood is normally left unstained as in the original, but may if required be stained to a deep chestnut brown. Also, as a cheaper alternative, I make a piccolo of two piece construction with the same internal measurements.

Unless otherwise specified, piccolos will be supplied at a’=440Hz.
